IMG_2024_edited.jpg

Magazines, newspapers, cards and lots of other materials you can find around your house are full of different photos, drawings and images... what happens if you bring them all together?

Jesse Treece is a collage artist who puts everyday images together to create extraordinary worlds. Have a look at his work... which different images can you see?

You will need...

  • Collect any magazines, newspapers, postcards, cards, photos, books... or any materials that have pictures in that you can cut out.

  • Paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue

Collect the materials you are going to use and cut out any large backgrounds you could use. Also cut out any interesting images.

You could start with the background you would like to use and start layering the images so they fit together in a scene.

Layer and add photos and have fun! Make sure you have a finalized layout before you stick anything down.

The final design...

What story does this collage tell? How does it make you feel?

With your finished collage, try mounting it (sticking it) to the back of a cardboard box. This will create a storybox and your collage can be used as a backdrop.

What will happen in your story? What characters will interact with your collage?

What does your final design look like?
What story does it tell?
Would you like to visit the world that you have created? What would you see, hear and smell?
